Christmas in Jackson Hole

a recap of my vacation in jackson hole, wyoming this christmas.

what i wore. . .

all the outfits i wore in jackson hole here - click to shop or check out my instagram (@samvryan) as well for more inspo

where we ate. . .

the first couple of nights we stayed at bronze buffalo ranch at teton springs, which is actually on the idaho side in victor.

we ate at forage our first night, in driggs, which was pretty good! we ordered the potato latke for the table and i ordered the saffron scallops. i thought the menu was interesting, the scallops were cooked perfectly and overall would return!

the next night we headed to teton thai in driggs as well (they also have a location in teton village, though i heard the driggs location is actually better). we loveddd teton thai. my only complaint is that the waitress made it seem like the food would be too spicy for us, so we ordered conservatively on the spice level and it was non existent. great flavor though, we actually intended on ordering again for christmas, but ended up grabbing thai plate which was.. not the best. highly recommend teton thai.

after checking out of the bronze buffalo ranch, we checked into hotel terra - right in the heart of teton village in jackson hole.

our first dinner in jackson was at the blue lion we were pretty excited to try. it was near impossible to get a reservation and everyone said it was awesome - unfortunately we were pretty unhappy with the food here. we started with the 460 baguette (the scallion oil and salted butter were great) after that, everything kinda went downhill. the salads they serve as starters weren't memorable or really even good. for mains we ordered the elk tenderloin and the bison short rib, trying to test out some local meats, but both kind of disappointed, personally i'd skip the blue lion next time around.

the kitchen was awesome, easily our best meal the whole week. we started with the hamachi and salmon (super bummed they were out of the bison tartare) both were great, and so fresh! next we shared the scallion pancake roll - so good, loved the sauce and it was something not so basic. everything at the kitchen was pretty shareable, tapas style. for mains, we did the pork chops and scallops. both were great but i thought their small plates really shined.

the bistro was our last spot and overall pretty good - i wasn't a fan of the beef or tuna tartare but if you like foie gras, the foie gras ganache was an interesting take. the oysters were good as well and the escargot with some of their warm, fresh baguette was phenomenal. we ended on the pistachio cheesecake, yum!

what we did. . .

primarily we were there to ski. i took lessons both days that i went on both grand targhee and jackson hole.

by the second day in jackson hole i made it on the ski lift a couple of times! and of course, i couldn't have done it without the cute ski-fits, right? more on that coming soon. . . *hint, get ready for a skiwear round up.

snowmobiling was another favorite. it. was freezing that day and it did start snowing on us a lot but it was a lot of fun and we saw deer :)

we also went on a wagon ride at the elk reserve - it was meant

to be a sleigh ride on christmas eve but there wasn't enough

snow yet. there was also hardly any elk down from the mountains

yet so, would have skipped that.
